How it works

You tell us the job. One vetted pro calls you. They do the work and you pay them. That is the whole thing. Here is each step in detail.

1. You send a request

Pick the job from our list or type what you need in the search box. The form asks five things: the job, your ZIP code, when you want it done, any details or photos, and how to reach you. No account, no password. If you would rather talk, call us and we fill it in with you.

If you are helping a parent or a neighbor, tick the box and both of you get every message.

2. We send it to one pro

We match your request to one pro who does that kind of work, in your town, at that size of job, and who has passed our checks. They have two hours to accept. If they cannot take it, it goes to the next one. You never get five calls from five strangers.

Once a pro accepts, you get their name, photo, and years in the trade by text and email, so you know who is calling and who will be at the door.

3. They call you within 4 business hours

The pro calls or texts to talk through the job and, if needed, to set up a visit for a quote. If nobody has reached you in that window, we call you ourselves and sort it out.

4. They quote, you decide

The pro gives you their own price. Our job pages show a fair range for the area so you can judge it. For anything over $1,000, Illinois law says you get a written contract and a consumer-rights pamphlet, and we remind every pro of that.

You are never obliged to go ahead. If the quote is not right, tell us and we will send the request to a different pro.

5. They do the work, you pay them

You pay the pro directly, the same way you always have, by check, card, or whatever they take. We never hold your money and we never ask you for a card. Anyone claiming to be from us who asks for payment is not from us.

When the job is done, we ask you one question: did it get done, and roughly what did it cost? That is how we know to charge the pro our small flat fee, and it is how we keep the pros honest.

Protected Pay, if you want it

For bigger jobs, some homeowners would rather not hand over a large check before the work is done. If your pro offers it, you can pay by card through Protected Pay instead. Stripe holds the money; the pro is paid when you tell us the work is done, or a week after they finish if you have not raised a problem. If something is wrong, tell us and nothing is released until it is settled. It is optional on every job.

What “Featured” means

A pro marked Featured on a town page pays for that spot. Featured pros still pass every check, and being featured never puts a pro ahead of one with a clearly better record or around a license rule. When two pros are close, the featured one may hear about your request first.

How we make money

The pro pays us a flat fee, between $19 and $399 depending on the size of the job, only after the job is done. Homeowners never pay us anything. Pros are not charged for your request, so there is no reason for them to pressure you.
