Mount a TV

A pro hangs your TV on the wall at the right height and anchored to the studs.

What this job involves

The pro finds the studs, marks the height so the middle of the screen is at eye level from the couch, and bolts the mount to the wall. The TV goes on the bracket and is leveled. Cords can be tucked into a cover or run inside the wall with a kit. Running a power cord inside the wall needs an in wall kit, since the regular cord is not rated for it. Brick and plaster walls need different anchors.

What to have ready

  • The TV size and the mount on hand
  • A photo of the wall and where the outlet is
  • Whether you want the cords hidden
  • What the wall is made of, if you know

What a fair price looks like

Most homeowners in our area pay between $100 and $275 for this job. Labor with the mount supplied by the homeowner. Hiding cords in the wall adds to the range.

This is a range to help you judge a quote, not a quote. The pro you are matched with gives you their own price, in writing for anything over $1,000, and you pay them directly. We charge the pro a small flat fee only after the job is done. We never ask you for payment.

What a good pro will ask you first

  • What size TV, and do you have the mount?
  • Drywall, plaster, or brick?
  • Where is the nearest outlet?
  • Do you want it to tilt or swing out?
