Replace a kitchen faucet
A licensed plumber removes the old kitchen faucet and connects the new one.
What this job involves
The water is shut off under the sink and the old faucet is unbolted from below, where years of grime can make the nuts hard to reach. The new faucet is set, sealed, and connected with new supply lines. A sprayer or soap dispenser goes in the extra hole. Illinois requires a licensed plumber for this. Old shutoff valves often leak once turned, so plan on new ones if yours are old.
What to have ready
- The new faucet on hand
- A photo under the sink showing the pipes and valves
- How many holes are in the sink or counter
- Whether the shutoff valves turn freely
What a fair price looks like
Most homeowners in our area pay between $150 and $325 for this job. Labor with the faucet supplied by the homeowner. A licensed plumber is required. New shutoff valves add to the range.
This is a range to help you judge a quote, not a quote. The pro you are matched with gives you their own price, in writing for anything over $1,000, and you pay them directly. We charge the pro a small flat fee only after the job is done. We never ask you for payment.
What a good pro will ask you first
- What brand is the new faucet?
- How many holes in the sink?
- Do the shutoffs under the sink work?
- Is there a disposal or filter in the way?
Why we only send a licensed plumbing pro
Illinois licenses plumbers statewide, and the law covers repairs and fixture swaps, not just new construction. Every plumbing request on this site goes only to a pro whose state license and contractor registration we have checked.
