Replace door hardware
A pro swaps knobs, levers, deadbolts, and hinges on your interior doors.
What this job involves
The old knob and latch come out and the new set goes in the same holes. If the new hardware needs a different hole size, the pro drills it out. Hinges can be swapped one at a time so the door stays hung. Strike plates are adjusted so the door latches without slamming. Older doors sometimes have odd hole spacing that needs a fill plate.
What to have ready
- A count of doors and what each needs
- The new hardware on hand
- A photo of a current knob and the edge of the door
- Whether any doors do not latch now
What a fair price looks like
Most homeowners in our area pay between $100 and $300 for this job. Labor with hardware supplied by the homeowner.
This is a range to help you judge a quote, not a quote. The pro you are matched with gives you their own price, in writing for anything over $1,000, and you pay them directly. We charge the pro a small flat fee only after the job is done. We never ask you for payment.
What a good pro will ask you first
- How many doors?
- Knobs, levers, or locks?
- Is the door edge bored for a standard latch?
- Any doors that stick or do not close?
