Install kitchen cabinets
A pro hangs your new kitchen cabinets level, plumb, and fastened to the studs.
What this job involves
The pro takes out the old cabinets if they are still up. Then they find the studs, mark a level line, and hang the upper cabinets first. The base cabinets come next, shimmed level so the countertop sits flat. Old walls are rarely straight, so some trimming and filler strips are normal. If the cabinets came flat packed, like IKEA, the pro can build them too.
What to have ready
- Your cabinet plan or the store layout drawing
- Photos of the kitchen walls with the old cabinets out, if they are out
- Whether the cabinets are assembled or still in boxes
- Whether the pro should remove the old cabinets
- Where the water shutoff is under the sink
What a fair price looks like
Most homeowners in our area pay between $2,200 and $4,800 for this job. Labor for a typical 10 by 10 kitchen with cabinets supplied by the homeowner. Flat pack assembly, old cabinet removal, and crown molding add to the range.
This is a range to help you judge a quote, not a quote. The pro you are matched with gives you their own price, in writing for anything over $1,000, and you pay them directly. We charge the pro a small flat fee only after the job is done. We never ask you for payment.
What a good pro will ask you first
- How many cabinets are there, and are they assembled?
- Are the old cabinets already out?
- Is the sink, stove, or dishwasher being moved?
- Do you have the layout drawing from the store?
