Hang wallpaper
A pro preps the wall and hangs wallpaper with matched seams and clean edges.
What this job involves
The wall must be smooth and primed, so any old paper comes off and holes get filled first. The pro plans the layout so the pattern matches at the seams and the cut edges land where they are least seen. Each strip is pasted, hung plumb, and smoothed. Edges are trimmed at the ceiling, trim, and outlets. Peel and stick paper is easier but still needs a clean, level wall to look right.
What to have ready
- The wall sizes, width and height
- The paper on hand, with one extra roll
- Whether there is old wallpaper to remove
- Photos of the walls and the corners
What a fair price looks like
Most homeowners in our area pay between $400 and $1,200 for this job. Labor per room with paper supplied by the homeowner. Removing old paper adds to the range. Homes built before 1978 may need lead safe practices.
This is a range to help you judge a quote, not a quote. The pro you are matched with gives you their own price, in writing for anything over $1,000, and you pay them directly. We charge the pro a small flat fee only after the job is done. We never ask you for payment.
What a good pro will ask you first
- How many walls, and what sizes?
- Is it traditional paper or peel and stick?
- Is there old paper on the wall now?
- Does the pattern need to match across seams?
