Closet system
A pro installs wire or wood closet organizers, rods, and shelves anchored to the studs.
What this job involves
A closet system replaces the single rod and shelf with rods, shelves, and drawers. The pro measures the closet, lays out the parts on the wall, and anchors the tracks or cleats into studs. The shelves and rods are cut to fit and hung level. Drywall anchors are used only where no stud lines up. Old closets often have uneven walls, and the shelves need trimming to fit.
What to have ready
- The closet width, depth, and height
- The system on hand, or a store plan
- Whether the old rod and shelf are out
- Photos of the closet empty
What a fair price looks like
Most homeowners in our area pay between $250 and $700 for this job. Labor with the system supplied by the homeowner. Removing the old rod and patching holes is included.
This is a range to help you judge a quote, not a quote. The pro you are matched with gives you their own price, in writing for anything over $1,000, and you pay them directly. We charge the pro a small flat fee only after the job is done. We never ask you for payment.
What a good pro will ask you first
- Reach in or walk in?
- What system did you buy?
- Is the closet empty?
- Do you want the old shelf and rod removed?
