Interior threshold ramps

A pro fits small ramps over raised thresholds and single steps so a walker or wheelchair rolls through.

About two hours on site

What this job involves

A raised threshold or a one step drop can stop a walker or catch a toe. The pro measures the height and fits a rubber or wood ramp that is anchored so it will not slide. For a sunken room or a short step, a built wood ramp with a gentle slope and no lip works best. The ramps are the right length for the rise so they are not too steep. This is interior only and does not include outside steps.

What to have ready

  • Photos of each doorway or step
  • The height of each threshold or step
  • The width of each doorway
  • Whether a wheelchair, walker, or scooter will use it

What a fair price looks like

Most homeowners in our area pay between $125 and $400 for this job. Labor with rubber ramps supplied by the homeowner. A built wood ramp is included in the range.

This is a range to help you judge a quote, not a quote. The pro you are matched with gives you their own price, in writing for anything over $1,000, and you pay them directly. We charge the pro a small flat fee only after the job is done. We never ask you for payment.

What a good pro will ask you first

  • How high is each step or threshold?
  • Wheelchair, walker, or scooter?
  • How wide is the doorway?
  • What floors are on each side?
